The new Treasurer in Alamosa County is Lois Widhalm. Her e-mail is lwidhalm@alamosacounty.org and website of www.alamosacounty.org. She is a very gracious and knowledgeable lady. She has not worked in the Treasurer's Office before, but has 30 years experience working in the Education Department at Adams State College. She's learning the "ropes" quickly and doing a very good job.
Ramona has a new email address. It is rradcliff@ouraycountyco.gov.

My wife, Tammy, had a mild heart attack over the weekend. She had a stent inserted and is doing very well but she's already tired of sitting around doing nothing.
Bob Gibson, our Director of Financial Management, has asked to have a request posted to the website. I would be most appreciative if you would post this:
The City and County of Denver is undertaking a study and would like to know which counties accept credit card payments for tax payments, including internet revenue collection of taxes. If your agency accepts credit card payments for property, sales, excise, and/or other forms of tax payments, we would appreciate having a contact person be identified with their e-mail address and phone number so we can follow up with some research we are undertaking. If your county accepts such payments, please either e-mail bob.gibson@ci.denver.co.us or call 720-865-7116 and ask for either Bob Gibson or Caroline Hendrickson. Thank you for your assistance with our research.

To all Colorado County Public Trustees and Treasurers,
I would just like to thank all of you for your support, thoughts and prayers as I go through this trying time. I greatly appreciate the card and the flowers sent.
Thanks again,

I have a new e-mail address and it is: jcovingt@co-isp.com.
You may have heard - I am retiring as of August 31. It has been interesting for the past 20 years in Public Trustee (25 with the City). Give my goodbyes to everyone. I will miss all of you.
(We will miss you too, Anita. Best wishes and enjoy your retirement.)
I would like to thank everyone who has asked about and said prayers for my daughter Tara. She had surgery on Monday and the surgeon felt very good about there not being any further cancer. We should know more by late this afternoon or tomorrow what the pathology report says. She is doing good and getting adjusted to not having a part of herself. Her address is Tara Nichols, PSL, Room 515, 1719 East 19th Avenue, Denver, CO 80218.
Your prayers and thoughts are deeply appreciated.
Jim
Starting at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, August 19, 2005, the Metro Area Treasurers division of CCTA will host a debate on the hottest topic for the fall elections - Referendum C&D. Kicking off the luncheon meeting will be Andrew Romanoff, the new Speaker of the Colorado House. Mr. Romanoff will give use 15 minutes of why we should support this measure. Mr. Mitchell will follow with 15 minutes of why we shouldn’t support the measure. This will be followed by a question and answer period.
These are the two best speakers in the state on these issues. This is the biggest statewide issue facing voters this fall and this is our best opportunity to hear both sides of the issue.
The luncheon event is free for CCTA Metro Association members and $25 for nonmembers.
Fill out your registration form and mail to: John Lefebvre, Adams County Treasurer, 450 4th Ave., Brighton CO 80601. It must be received no later than August 12, 2005.
Hi there,
It is with great pleasure that I am proud to announce the new treasurer for Rio Blanco County. The County Commissioners finally got around to appointing my deputy, Karen Arnold as the new treasurer. She will take the oath of office tomorrow, July 7 at 5:01 PM.
It is still with mixed emotions that I will start the next phase of my life. It looks like a camping trip tomorrow after Karen is sworn in is my first item of business. I will miss all of you. Thanks to all who have sent cards and flowers and those that were able to make my retirement party. You are all great people and great leaders. God bless you all.

Hi, Bob: My new e-mail address is: monika.todd@mesacounty.us. Since you have such a great distribution list to the counties, could you please send this out. Thanks so much. Looking forward to seeing everyone in Cortez. Monika
Hi Sandy and Bob,
I need to let you know that I will not be able to make the summer conference. My wife had a grand mal seizure last week. As a result of the seizure, she passed out, fell and suffered a head injury. She is out of the hospital now, but suffering from memory loss and several other head injury related issues. She also can not drive for 3-6 months at this time. I am not able to get too far away for any extended period of time. Wanted to let you both know--for planning and meeting purposes. Though it is bad, it could have been much worse. Thanks, Jim
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your wife, Jim.
Wanda Lowery has been having some genetic heart problems and was flown out Flight for Life Friday. Her heart is not pumping at normal strength and has had blood clots which they think they now have under control with medication. She was home Sunday and worked half a day this morning.
The eBusiness committee met on
Friday May 6, 2005 and approved the two release forms and instructions.
(Webmaster Note: These new forms are listed on the
CPTA Forms
page.)
Property Records Education Partners (PREP)
It is the Industry that Binds us-it is the Partnership that Unites us. What
would happen if we all worked together to address industry-related issues? Mark
Monacelli, PRIA President St. Louis County MN Recorder
What is the PREP?
In an effort to improve local industry working relationships, the Property
Records Education Partners (PREP) was formed through an alliance between:
American Land Title Association (ALTA)
American Escrow Association (AEA)
International Association of Clerks, Recorders, Election Officials & Treasurers
(IACREOT)
National Association of County Recorders, Election Officials & Clerks (NACRC)
At the request of the Alliance, the Property Records Industry Association (PRIA) recently approved structuring PREP as an official PRIA Work Group. This structure provides a long-term, stable foundation for PREP, with enhanced coordination and support for PREP Chapters.
Why was PREP formed*what is its mission, purpose and objective?
Through surveys and studies, industry leaders recognized the need* and
desire*for improved communication at the local level. A structured forum was
needed to improve local relationships. That forum is now available through
creation of local PREP Chapters.
By participating in a PREP Chapter, you have the opportunity to discuss industry issues and find solutions to problems at the local level. By networking nationally through PRIA, PREP Chapter participants will become better informed about industry issues and enjoy a stronger voice when addressing federal legislation, electronic recording and standardization concerns.
How do we start a PREP Chapter in our area?
We will help you organize a PREP Chapter in your area. Recorders, title
companies, escrow agents, lenders, underwriters, vendors*all sectors of the
industry are invited to participate. PREP Chapters do not have membership dues,
and each chapter determines its leadership, meeting schedule and agendas. PREP
operating rules (below) provide additional details.
For more information, contact Ardis Schmitt, PREP National Coordinator, for information at schmitta@pcisys.net or by telephone at 719-550-1708. To receive emails about the Colorado Charter Chapter of PREP, send your email address to Angela Dazlich, Larimer County Public Trustee, at dazlicaa@co.larimer.co.us.
My new email address is rsagel@co.morgan.co.us.
The Public Trustee's Legislative Committee will be meeting in Brighton on May 12, 2005. We will be discussing the proposed rewrite of the foreclosure statutes. A draft will be sent to all PT's prior to Summer Conference so the discussion on PT day will be fruitful. If you would like to attend, let me know.
On April 13th, Linda Statz mailed Continuing Education forms to those who attended the March Eastern Division meeting in Colorado Springs. If you need one and do not receive, please contact Linda.
I am planning on retiring in July and trying to have some fun. My bout with cancer two years ago made me do some serious thinking. Insurance needs kept me here though. Then in January my husband became ill with acute pancreatitus. He spent two weeks in critical care in St Mary's Hospital and then had gall bladder surgery and spent another week in the regular hospital part. He is recuperating but still hasn't gained back his strength. He didn't have anything to eat or drink for 3 weeks. He was happy to lose 3l pounds but not that way. Now he is diabetic and having to check his blood frequently. He is another good reason to retire so we can travel while we are still able to.
I am not planning on going to the June conference. We are in the process of moving to Grand Junction and have lots of things to do. I was not intending this to be a goodbye but I will say that I have enjoyed the Treasurer's Assn and all the fine people in it. I will miss all of you and appreciate all of the good people there. I don't know what new treasurers would do without the knowledge and willingness to help by everyone in the Association. Best wishes to all of you.
Jo Ann
I have my first granddaughter, Kayley Lynn Sagel. She was born 2/5/05 and weighed 7 lbs, 6 oz. She and her mother are doing fine and Tammy is on Cloud 9.

Good news! HB 05-1168, which will increase the efficiency in the offices of the Public Trustees, has passed first reading in the House and should be heard on the Floor this Friday.
I wanted to remind everyone the applications for Certification and Re-Certification are to mailed to Michelle Miller by February 15, 2004. Michelle is the chairperson of the Credentials Committee. The application must be postmarked by February 15, 2005. IF you have any questions, please contact Charlene Cockrum, Alamosa County or Michelle Miller, Park County.
I just received word from Leslie Sloss at the State that they are not requiring the reports again until and if the amount for the exemptions changes from a zero amount.
I just got off the phone with the Dept of Revenue (Titles and Registration) and they said we now need a DR2444 statement of fact sent in with the purge papers on mobile homes. I guess it has always been needed but they have just decided to revamp their methods and require it. It can be obtained on either their web site www.revenue.state.co.us or from the Clerk and Recorders office. Just thought this could be put on the web site for everyone.
Happy new year! Don't forget to send anything to me that you want to share with the Associations.
