Just a quick note to let you know I'm back in the saddle again.  I had a minor heart attack last weekend.  They ran a scope and found a partial blockage.  I now have a stent and a vested interest in the aspirin industry, but I feel pretty good.

Thanks for all the cards and well wishes.  It's great to have such good friends.

I want to thank the Treasurers and Public Trustees for the beautiful flowers, and all of the cards and prayers.
I am doing really well. I was diagnosed with breast cancer on March 23. I had a bilateral mastectomy on April 12th. I am really lucky that it was caught early. I did get a staff infection, but it improves every day. I went up for a PET scan last week and it showed no other cancer. My test for reoccurance of breast cancer was good too, so I don't have to have chemotherapy or radiation, but I will have to take a drug called Arimidex for the next five years.
I really feel lucky and very blessed.
Thank you all for all of the support. You are truly a wonderful Association. And I appreciate
all of you so much.

Love, Patti

I failed to mention in my note how much I appreciate Peggy Kern from Rio Grande County.
She came up to help me in my office while I was recovering from my surgery. I couldn't have managed without her. I am the only one in my office, so I would have been so far behind if it hadn't been for Peggy. What a wonderful friend she is.

I don't know if you all heard about Patti Payne from Mineral  County.  She had some surgery and they are checking her  blood. I last spoke to her on Friday the 27th of April.  She is  at home recovering.

I thought if she received cards of encouragement, it would  be helpful.

I just heard that Rich Gebhart is undergoing surgery this afternoon to remove some possible blood clots.  He is at the Boulder Community Hospital in Room 244 if anyone wants to send a card.

Jim Covington's mother passed away last Friday.  Our sincerest condolences to Jim and his family.

Please join me in welcoming Kim Pfeifer as the acting Treasurer and Public Trustee for the City and County of Broomfield.   Kim has 27 years in the Treasurer's environment.  Kim has been a great "Chief Deputy" and I know she will do a great job for Broomfield.  She did have an opportunity to meet a lot of you when Broomfield hosted the conference, but I know you will all make her feel welcome as you did me.  I am proud to pass the baton to such a worthy successor!    Happy New Year all.

Karen asked me to forward this when it was available to share with the associations.  Please forward it with my sincere thanks for the opportunity to work with all the treasurers and public trustees.
