EASTERN DIVISION
SEPTEMBER 20, 2007

Thursday, September 20, 2007:

President Alynn Huffman welcomed 24 members and 1 speaker.  A picnic lunch from Arby’s was enjoyed by those present.  The group thanked Jim Covington and crew for bringing in the lunch.  We were reminded to fill in our continuing education forms and turn them in before leaving on Friday.

Guest speaker sue Gillian (GTS) spoke on ACH alternatives and answered the group’s questions.  A round table question and answer session followed.

At 3:00 our second speaker Scott Draudt from U.S. Bank spoke about credit card payments.  After the presentations the group met at Southside for dinner and afterwards several enjoyed games back at Tyme Square Inn.

Friday, September 21, 2007:

The meeting was opened by President Alynn Huffman and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.  The Treasurer’s report was given (see attached) and accepted for audit.  The minutes from March were handed out and approved.

Committee Reports:  Alynn Huffman invited everyone to a District 5 meeting on the 28th in Teller County.  If attending, please let Connie Joiner know by email.  It will begin at 9:00 in Cripple Creek.

Legislative:  Jim Covington had talked with John Lefebvre and they will be looking at the statute 30-20-807 dealing with cemetery districts.  He discussed the mobile home task force.  They are looking at a statewide database and working on the purge process.  They meet again in 3 weeks.  Information will go out to everyone.

IACREOT:  Michelle Miller went to the conference in N.C.  She will have to give up her directorship as her travel budget has been cut.  If interested contact Myrna Rodenberger, Connie Joiner, Karen Sheaffer or Michelle Miller.

Fall Seminar:  October 22-26 in Ft. Collins.  Theme is red, white and blue.  Contact the executive board if you need help with expenses.

E-Recording:  Several counties are up and going.

Foreclosure Training:  Jim Covington talked about the foreclosure training that is going to be set up in each district.  The P.T. executive board met in July and each district chair will be in charge of setting a time and place for the training.  These should be set by Fall Seminar.  The trainers will be Ed Murray, Bob Slade, Bob Sagel and Jim Covington.  Bob Sagel and Jim Covington will do the East and Michelle Miller’s districts; Ed Murray will do the South; and Bob Slade the Northwest.  Robert Hopp and Rich Krohn will work with the appointed PT’s and staff.  Hopefully, these meetings will be in November.  All questions will go back to Jim Covington and Bob Sagel and then to Rich Krohn.  There will be regional meetings in the East and West to answer the questions.  The PT Association will pay for meals.  Each county is responsible for getting to the meetings.  Bob Sagel reminded us that the meetings are open to all PT’s and staff, and to invite our sheriff.  The meetings will last approx. 3 hours.  Sheriffs must pay for their meals.  The purpose of the meetings is to provide as much training as possible close to the end of the year before the new statutes are in place.  Carol Snyder suggested that in the larger areas they could possibly hold a morning and afternoon session so that all staff could attend without closing the offices.  Patty Bartlett is working on the new PT manuals and will try to complete them by the meetings.

Alynn Huffman reminded us that if we have any questions for Rich Krohn at Seminar to send them to Sandy Berry ahead of time.

Jim Covington asked that those present from the PT Executive Board meet before lunch.

Alta Mae Brown, Chairman of the nominations committee presented the slate of officers:

Since there were no other nominations, Jim Covington moved that we accept the slate and Michelle Miller seconded.  Motion passed.

Committee Appointments were made by Alynn.

The next meeting will be March 13 & 14 in Limon.]

Meeting was adjourned and roundtable followed.

Respectfully submitted,

Dee Ann Stults, Secretary.
