TREASURY NOTES

April, 2003

JOINT MESSAGE FROM
THE PRESIDENT OF CCTA:  Jim Covington, Lincoln County
and
THE PRESIDENT OF CPTA:  Holly Williams, El Paso County

A reminder to our new and veteran members:  The Colorado County Treasurers' Association and the Colorado Public Trustees Association pride ourselves on the non-partisan way in which we carry out our official business.  Our membership includes elected officials, appointed officials, Republicans and Democrats - - - all working together via our Associations to assist each other in serving the taxpaying public in our counties.

When we contact State officials, or the leaders of other local government organizations in Colorado, we do so to express our collective interests as Treasurers and/or Public Trustees, regardless of any partisan position.  When asked for assistance or guidance from time-to-time by a member with an issue within his or her office, we willingly offer that assistance without regard to any partisan perspective.

Please remember that keeping these principles in mind is important to keeping the positive reputations of our Associations intact.

            Thank you - - -

Jim and Holly

EASTERN DIVISION MEETING HELD MARCH 20 & 21, 2003:

There were 16 in attendance, with many "wanting" to come but added with the age-old comment, "I can't get there from here."
Roundtable discussion was held with many concerns addressed.  Many of these d9iscussions will probably be brought up at Conference at the Round-Table.  The discussions pertaining to Public Trustee issues will be addressed at the Public Trustee Day meeting on Thursday, June 26.  Gini with Fremont County is keeping a list of these discussions for both the Public Trustee and for the Treasurers' meetings.  One topic that came up that will definitely be addressed at Conference is "Recorded Interest" - what is the extent of this phrase for "rights to redeem?"  This was not answered in Limon.
*****ALSO***** LINDA STATZ, PHILLIPS COUNTY attended a meeting in Glenwood Springs with BOB SAGEL, MORGAN COUNTY and truly would love to hear HIS version of the trip back where they encountered the BLIZZARD OF 2003 - Linda does not smoke - Bob does smoke - white out conditions - being a "tad" tossed about in the vehicle - NO "out-houses" - or "chamber pots" available?????  BOB?!?? at conference would you care to "entertain" us???
