MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

First of all, a very special thank you to Gini and all the District 5 Treasurers and Public Trustees for a superb conference. It's great when you can learn and have fun at the same time. I also want to thank the Association for allowing me to serve as your president this year and especially for electing such a fine executive board to work with. I think we will have a great year.

Enclosed is the 2003-2004 committee list. It is also available on the web site, www.e-ccta.org. (click the CPTA Committees button)  If you were not named to a committee and want to serve, please let me know or contact the committee chairman. Several of the committees need to start working right away. I would ask that all chairman submit meeting dates and times as well as minutes of their meetings to me so they can be posted on the web site.

I have also added a Forum page to the web site. I don't know if it works or not, so try it out and let me know. Ideally, someone can post a question or comment and anyone else can post a reply. I hope it works.

Until all the committees are up and running, I will be attending the meetings of the sub-committee of the real estate section of the Colorado Bar Association. They are reviewing the changes made to the statutes last year and looking at new changes. I will keep you posted.  (see the note on the Bulletin Board)

That's all for now. If you have ideas, questions, concerns, etc. please let me know.

Bob Sagel

DOODLES BY SHERRY

Ramona Radcliffe, Ouray County Treasurer/Public Trustee, has been ill since our conference.  At first, I thought it was because she rode with me to Canon City (too much chit chat), but she continued to be ill after she arrived home.  Please keep her in your daily thoughts to get well soon.  She is on antibiotics at present s should be back to her sweet self soon!

We have experienced many wild fires in San Miguel County after the 4th of July.  Some small fires were started by the annual firework display put on by the volunteer firemen.  One fire started by lightning was close to the ski area and people were evacuated.  The fire fighters have them under control, but not completely extinguished.  The smoke has arrived in town and bothering everyone's eyes and breathing.  Our fires are quite small compared to other counties in the state.
Colorado and the Western States are truly in a dangerous fire situation at present.  The monsoon season can not get here soon enough.

I say to myself, I've lived through this and can take the next thing that comes along...

We must do the things we think we cannot do."
