Seminar Business Minutes, October 12, 2004

Michelle Miller, Park County, acting CCTA President, called the meeting to order at 9:03 a.m. and welcomed everyone.
Mack Crowther, Conejos County, gave the invocation.
Larimer County Sheriff's Honor Guard presented the Colors and led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mack Crowther, Conejos County, Secretary/Treasurer had roll call and 44 County Treasurers were present.
The minutes of the CCTA Conference held in Broomfield on June 22, 2004 were approved as presented. Tina Whitmer, Grand County, made the motion and Bob Sagel, Morgan County, seconded the motion. Passed unanimously. Treasurer's report given with a balance of $123,173.33 as of September 30, 2004.
An issued from the Executive Board meeting the previous day was presented as a proposal concerning the increase in membership dues from $300 to $350 fro the upcoming year. This was due to increasing costs of the Association specifically with conference and vendor support of the county hosting the event. It had been at least 10 years since any dues increase. Steve Hutt, Denver County, made the motion to increase the dues by $50 and was seconded by Bob Sagel, Morgan County. After some discussion, motion passed unanimously.
Alynn Huffman, Gilpin County, spoke about the upcoming Eastern Division meeting that will be held March 24 & 25 in Colorado Springs.
Sandy Greenlee, Montezuma County, spoke about the upcoming conference next year in Cortez at the Holiday Inn Express. It will be held June 20 - 24, 2005. There will be fun activities including stage coach rides as well as good classes for everyone.
Concerning the national association IACREOT, Connie Joiner, Teller County is now the Colorado Delegation Director. Also others serving were Karen Sheaffer, Eagle County, as Treasurer, Myrna Rodenberger, Larimer County , as Treasurer's Chairperson on Issues, and Sherry Rose, San Miguel County, as Deputy Delegation Director. The 2005 conference will be in New York City and membership is $135 a year.
Peg Ackerman and Roxy Huber, Broomfield County, addressed the current and upcoming legislative proposed issued. These included 1) Mineral Rights getting re-attached to the land, 2) New Salary Bill, 3) On-line tax lien sales (statute language to approve sales), 4) Treasurer Fees changes, 5) Assessor interim value issue, 6) Mobile Home area, 7) BAA Abatement process - whom to repay who paid taxes, and 8) State Treasurer's Office - Investment Policy changes.
Mark Paschall, Jefferson County, mentioned as a matter of information that the CCOERA Board had changed from 5 to 9 members.
Burt Burrows, State Director, Nationwide Retirement Solutions, was thanked as a break sponsor.
