Conference Business Minutes, June 27, 2006
Mesa County - Grand Junction
Michelle Miller, Park County, CCTA President, called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. and welcomed everyone.
Invocation was given by Rev. Dr. Edmundo Valera, St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Presentation of Colors was done by the Boy Scouts of America, Western Colorado Council and National Anthem by Morgan Crouse. A welcome was given by Mesa County Commissioner, Tilman "Tillie" Bishop. A response was given by Michelle Miller and she thanked Mesa County for hosting the event.
Mack Crowther shared the minutes from the Fall Seminar in October, 2005 with the membership and a motion by Sherry Rose and seconded by Dee Ann Stults to suspend the reading of the minutes and approved them as presented. Motion passed unanimously. Roll call was taken with 48 Treasurers present. Treasurer's report was given with a balance of $154,675.74 as of May 31, 2006.
Michelle Miller then asked for Committee reports.
Continuing Education Committee, Jim Covington, Chair, spoke about current things happening with Mesa State. He met with Bob Peterson and the online instruction for deputies is OK. A new hand out was passed out on the non-credit online learning. It will be $89 per course at Mesa State. This will be for 2 CEU's or 24 hours. All courses run for six to eight weeks and are composed of 12 lessons. Two weeks to complete the assignment. Also for this conference's classes everyone will need to sign the sign up sheet in the back of the room and send back the continuing ed class sheet in two weeks.
Budget & Audit Committee, Karen Sheaffer, 1st Vice-President, stated the Executive Board had met and found the financial records of CCTA presented by Secretary-Treasurer, Mack Crowther, to be in order and balanced as of May 31, 2006.
Resolution Committee, Connie Joiner, Chairperson gave the Resolutions Report to express thanks and appreciation to all those involved with the Conference. It was attached to the minutes for permanent record.
Site Committee, Lorraine Woolley, Chairperson, gave the following report that for 2009 the Conference will be hosted by Jeannie Whiddon of Routt County. For 2010 the Conference will be hosted by Sandra Damron in El Paso County.
Nominating Committee, Dennis Smith, Chairperson, placed the following recommendations for people to serve as officers in the coming year. As President: Karen Sheaffer, 1st Vice-President: Sharon Jones, 2nd Vice-President: Susan Cochell, Secretary-Treasurer: Mack Crowther, Board Member: Alynn Huffman, and Board Member: John Lefebvre. No other nominations were presented from the floor and the above individuals were approved unanimously.
Scholarship Committee, Karen Sheaffer, mentioned there were 3 applicants and one new recipient will be announced at the Banquet on Thursday evening.
Accreditation Committee, Karen Sheaffer, stated there were 2 new accreditations and 2 renewal individuals that will be awarded at the Banquet on Thursday evening.
Conference Committee, Michelle Miller, said that Seminar will be in Fort Collins on October 16th through the 20th at the Marriott Hotel for $73. The theme this year is "Let the 50's Rock n Roll".
Sharon Jones spoke about next year's conference in Douglas County which will be held June 18-22, 2007 at the Holiday Inn (Select Inn) in Parker and the theme will be on "Sports Teams".
Ken Sigley spoke about the next Metro Meeting on August 18, 2006 in Aurora. Registration forms will be coming. Two classes beginning at 10:00 a.m. One on Check 21 about software and hardware, and the other on specific statutes on writing off delinquent taxes. The luncheon will be at 12:00 followed by former State Treasure, Mike Coffman, speaking about his experiences in the Iraq War.
Concerning IACREOT, the national conference is in San Francisco next week. Karen Sheaffer is the Treasurer for this organization. Myrna Rodenberger is the current conference chair. Next year's conference will be in Charlotte, NC on a "NASCAR" theme.
Past President's Committee, Michelle Miller, handed out pins to the following: Alta Mae Brown, Doris Porth, Bob Sagel, Georgia Chamberlain, Gina Woltemath, Jim Covington, Ramona Radcliff, Sherry Rose, and Ed Murray.
Michelle Miller had a list of "Certified Treasurers" and the dates of certification that became an attachment to these minutes.
Forms Committee, Linda Statz, Chairperson, had no report at this time. Linda Statz had a special fund presentation of Hawaii attire to Monica Todd for her hosting this conference.
With no further business, meeting was adjourned at 10:45 a.m.
