Business Meeting —Tuesday October 17, 2006
Seminar- Fort Collins Marriott
Karen Sheaffer, Eagle County, CCTA President, called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. and welcomed everyone.
Mack Crowther, Conejos County, gave the invocation.
Larimer County Sheriffs Honor Guard presented the Colors and led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mack Crowther, Conejos County, Secretary/Treasurer had roll call and 48 County Treasurers were present.
The minutes of the CCTA Conference held in Grand Junction on June 27, 2006 were approved as presented by a motion to dispense with reading them. Carla Logan, Montrose County, made the motion and Larry Gilliland, Summit County, seconded the motion. Passed unanimously. Treasurer’s report given with a balance of $135,440.55 as of September 30, 2006.
Monica Todd, Mesa County, spoke about the Western Division of CCTA. They met in August and plans are to meet once a year in August. The membership dues are $75.
Concerning the Site Selection and future conferences, two counties will be switching the times they host conference. Jeanne Whiddon, Routt County, said she will be hosting the 2008 conference in Steamboat Springs and Alynn Huffman, Gilpin County, will then host the 2009 conference in Central City.
On behalf of the Executive Board, Karen brought up that about 11 new Treasurers would be coming on board after the next election. The next Quadrennial Training will probably be scheduled for the 1st or 2nd week in February 2007.
Jim Covington, Lincoln County, spoke about several issues. He thanked everyone for the timeliness of their reports. Concerning Continuing Education credit, there is a sign-up sheet at the back of the room that everyone needs to sign for today’s classes. He also proposed that CCTA and CPTA purchase a Laptop Computer and Scanner to be used by both associations for multiple reasons to share the cost together. Bob Sagel, Morgan County, made the first motion and Alynn Huffman, Gilpin County, made the 2nd motion to purchase the above computer equipment. Motion passed unanimously.
The idea of a CCTA Christmas Party was brought up. It was discussed to hold it in mid-December and would be decided later of where to hold the event.
Roxy Huber, Broomfield County, and Legislative Chair, spoke about current legislation. She mentioned about a possible possessory interest bill. If you have mobile home issues, to please notify her soon. There is an idea of hardship loan recovery and the issue of splits before tax sale that could possibly be addressed.
Irene & Linda had several hand-outs and Doris Porth asked for ideas for the Round Table.
Sharon Jones asked about the idea of a mentor program for new Treasurers and possibly creating a new committee.
With no other business, the meeting adjourned at 9:40 a.m.
